Silke began traveling the world after completing her Bachelor in Social Studies (Pedagogy) in The Netherlands. While exploring South East Asia she got certified as Vinyasa Yoga Teacher in India, finished a Yin Yoga Teacher in Mexico and did an extra course on Kids Yoga.
In between travels she worked in (outdoor) child care facilities in The Netherlands, nannied in Australia, French Polynesia and many other places in the world. She loves the pure joy and natural authenticity children possess.
Experiencing each moment.. Fully
However, she has noticed that as children grow, they start to drift away from that deep connection to themselves and change their behaviour to fit in or feel seen.
She hopes to support children in their development with introducing non- violence, mindfulness and yoga. Silke aims to plant a little seeds in those little minds that will into grow dense jungles of wisdom an inter- connection.
Silke Mina wrote 2 children's Yoga Books!
A follow along yoga pose adventure
(pre) school till 10 years old, available in many languages!
An introduction to yoga for children
6 to 12 years old, including many ideas for yogic activities
Silke Mina offers parents and caregivers tools on how to nurture their children emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
Her method of working with children is like Silk.
Organic: Following the pace and interests of children
Soft & Gentle: using the pillars of non-violence, positive and kind
Strong: In essence. Boundaries are set, topics are meaningful
She promotes positive and heart warming environment gently encourages children to connect with their emotions and offers tools for self-soothing and calming their nervous system.
In her activities and books there are no heroes, villains, or conflicts to resolve. Instead, the focus is on the beauty and sweetness of everyday life, showing children that they have everything they need within themselves. Through simple, non-violent narratives, the stories highlight the joy and peace that can be found in mindful living, helping children navigate the world with a sense of calm and inner strength.
These stories:
are engaging stories that spark imagination and self-discovery with magical calming illustrations
have yoga and mindfulness practices woven into every adventure
offer tools to help children (and parents..) navigate emotions with confidence and ease
inspire parents to add yoga into the daily life of their children (and themselves!)
Join me in planting the seeds of yoga, kindness, and resilience—one story at a time.
Fun fact: Silke is pronounced as ‘Sil-kuh.’ In the Netherlands, names ending in ‘-uh’ are common, though this isn’t as typical in English-speaking countries. When she lived in Australia for a year, her favorite nanny family gave her the nickname ‘Silky'. The kids introduced her to their friends as Silky from NeVerland. And she’s happily gone by ‘Silky’ ever since.
